The Gun Song

by Aaron Smith

/

about

The Gun Song is my reaction to the epidemic of mass shootings that have scarred the United States in recent years. It has to stop. We all have to open our eyes and address this problem. I had to speak out, so I grabbed my guitar and sang.

lyrics

The bullets can’t see the children’s faces
Or tell the warzones from the holy places
There is no haven, there are no safe spaces
The bullets can’t see the children’s faces

Stop, stop, stop, stop
Stop and look around
There’s thunder in the air and death is rainin’ down
Blood is on the street where any of us can drown
See the blood soak into American ground

Can’t you see the fear on the innocent faces
Bodies on the floor where the blood leaves traces
There’s only one answer, no rocks or hard places
Can’t you see the fear on the innocent faces

Stop, stop, stop, stop
Stop and look around
There’s thunder in the air and death is rainin’ down
Blood is on the streets where any of us can drown
See the blood drip from the millionaires’ crowns

Thoughts are only thoughts and only actions last
We don’t need your prayers, we need laws to pass
There are madmen on the loose, we got to take away their toys
Forget about the money and your NRA boys

Stop, stop, stop, stop
Stop and look around
There’s thunder in the air and death is rainin’ down
Blood is on the streets where any of us can drown
See the blood drip from the senators’ crowns

Stop, stop, stop, stop
Stop and look around
There’s thunder in the air and death is rainin’ down
Blood is on the streets where any of us can drown
See the blood drip from the president’s crown

Take your thoughts and prayers and shove them up your ass
We’re only flesh and bone, this fragile human glass
Only flesh and bone, this fragile human glass
Only flesh and bone, this fragile human glass
