Almost Forever

about

This is my plea for environmental responsibility. We must correct our course and do something about climate change before it's too late!

lyrics

A thousand rings marked his age
As he stood like a sentinel in one place
Almost forever
Now the chainsaw roars and he falls to the ground
And he startles the birds for miles around
As a man yells, “Timber!”
No more forever

Yellow and black buzz through the air
Spreading life everywhere
So many flowers
Now man and his greed are killing the bees
When they’re gone, who will spread the seeds?
All they want is power
But where are the flowers?

The water’s getting high, the ice is getting low
When the dam’s about to burst, where do you think you’ll go?
If you think this weather’s bad, wait till you see next week
This is not the time to turn the other cheek
Stand up! Do something now!
For the whole world’s sake!

A symbol of life hung glowing in the sky
And its rays encouraged us all to rise
In the beginning
Now it feels much closer and we start to burn
And it parches the land and wilts the corn
And the air is thinning
The end is beginning

There’s a masterpiece under the sea
A museum of beauty for you and me
Such amazing colors
Now we dirty the ocean and we overreach
And we bleach the reefs like thoughtless thieves
And the world gets duller
Where are the colors?

The water’s getting high, the ice is getting low
When the dam’s about to burst, where do you think you’ll go?
If you think this weather’s bad, wait till you see next week
This is not the time to turn the other cheek
Stand up! Do something now!
For the whole world’s sake!

Didn’t they ever tell you not to shit where you eat?
But you piss in the water and you tear down the trees
You’re burning down your house
You’re throwing yourself out
But there’s no other place
For this human race
We don’t have to hear the final chorus
We don’t have to see it all go wrong
But if we don’t put out the fire we’ve started
The wind will sing our funeral song

We were given this lovely world
And we’ve lived here for ages untold
Almost forever
But on Mother Earth we’ve taken our toll
And she can’t hold on for very long
So we’ve got to love her
And we can save forever

The water’s getting high, the ice is getting low
When the dam’s about to burst, where do you think you’ll go?
If you think this weather’s bad, wait till you see next week
This is not the time to turn the other cheek
Stand up! Do something now!
For the whole world’s sake!
