Halloween Eternal

from Red Wolf Mist by Aaron Smith

/

lyrics

As the moon crosses the sky
The collision of two worlds
Is irreversibly near
If the city was the sea
The map would surely say
That there be monsters here

The plague doctor vultures
Peck apart the bones
Of the carcass of the night
Dark demonstration
Anatomy lesson
Come see what’s inside

Jack O’Lantern horsemen
Gallop through the streets
Casting a wicked glow
One look at their eyes
Will make you lose your mind
Forget everything you know

Hellfire cobblestones burn
Smoldering agony
Flay the flesh from fleeing feet
“No Exit,” screams the neon
No way off of this path
They call Damnation Street

Survivors are few, and all they can see
Is the black and the red that replace blue and green
At the twenty-fifth hour of the thirtieth day
This Hell on Earth has come to stay
The last Halloween has begun
No shelter for you or for anyone
Ring the gong for Judgment Day
You’ve been calling your god by the wrong name

The Consumer of Souls
Holds a merry old court
Watches his demons dance
He eats serial killers
Like you eat breakfast
Do you think you have a chance?

The circus clowns heed
the siren call to arms
They’ve been waiting like a sleeper cell
In this newly founded
nightmare kingdom
their faces will serve them well

Church bells made of hollowed skulls
In league with devil horns
Sing songs of certain doom
And in between their verses
Ring out cries in ancient tongues
Far older than any tomb

The graffiti of blood
Is the news of the day
In every language known
There is no sanctuary
Or safety from the storm
Just a dark lord on the throne

Survivors are few, and all they can see
Is the black and the red that replace blue and green
At the twenty-fifth hour of the thirtieth day
This Hell on Earth has come to stay
The last Halloween has begun
No shelter for you or for anyone
Ring the gong for Judgment Day
You’ve been calling your god by the wrong name
