Misty Mountain Horror

from Red Wolf Mist by Aaron Smith

/

lyrics

There are no clocks on the mountain
The hills have eyes but they can’t tell time
When the sun goes down on the mountain
Madness eats reason and there is no rhyme

They told me not to go up the mountain
When you’re lost in the shadows you lose your mind
Now the fog is thick on the mountain
I can’t see where I’m going but I’m not quite blind

Because I drank from a youthful fountain
And I sleep in the city but a mountain girl is mine
And I can hear the music of the mountain
And the song she sings is sure to ease my mind

The Red Wolf runs on the mountain
He howls and moans as he guards the night
Beware his jaws of iron
If you think his bark is bad, wait till you feel his bite

The road is rough on the mountain
But I’ll drive like the devil to be by her side
I don’t want to be a ghost on the mountain
But if she breaks my heart I will surely die
